The scheme supports those aged 16 to 25 who have left home or care, but do not feel ready to live independently. People who open their homes to young people to provide supported lodgings are known as lodgings providers. Supported lodgings can last for anything from 9 to 24 months, occasionally longer. While a young person stays with their provider, they will have a clean and comfortable room in a safe, secure, and supportive household. Lodgings providersProviders rent rooms in their homes to young people to live as part of their household. Supported lodgings are more than just a room in a house. Providers will give the emotional and practical support the young person needs to become confident about living independently in the future. Potential providers must complete a set of checks and assessments before being allocated a young person.
